EMSL Analytical, Inc. announces that its Aquatic Microbiology Division has expanded its extensive list of services and will now offer endospore analysis. Endospores are dormant, environmentally resistant structures formed by certain genera of bacteria in response to adverse environmental conditions. Aerobic endospore analysis can be used to evaluate water treatment processes (physical removal processes and disinfection), efficacy of riverbank infiltration, and physical integrity of drinking water distribution systems that may have been compromised due to accidental breaches or regularly scheduled maintenance activities.
“We are excited about the addition of aerobic endospore analysis because this test can provide our customers with one more key indicator of water system quality and integrity,” said Jason Dobranic, Ph.D., Vice President of Microbiology and Life Sciences at EMSL Analytical, Inc. “By collecting only an additional 100mL of water, our clients can add endospore analysis to their existing Microscopic Particle Analysis (MPA) and Cryptosporidium/Giardia analysis requests.”
EMSL Analytical, Inc. is approved by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) and may be used by public water systems complying with the Long Term 2 Enhanced Surface Water Treatment Rule (LT2) for Cryptosporidium and Giardia analysis.
