In August, large rain storms across Louisiana caused flooding across the state. Record river levels caused thousands to evacuate from their homes. As residents are allowed to access their homes again, many are assessing damage caused by the flooding.

Standing water and wet materials are a breeding ground for microorganisms such as viruses, bacteria and mold. Property owners should inspect their property for signs of water damage including walls, ceilings, floors, attics, crawl spaces as well as areas around windows, doors and chimneys.
