EMSL Radiochemistry Lab Offers Radionuclide in Well Water Testing |
Introduction |
EMSL’s Radiochemistry Laboratory offers five testing plans for radionuclides analysis in drinking water. |
Cinnaminson, NJ, September 7 th, 2016
EMSL’s Radiological Laboratory Division now provides expanded radionuclides in well water analysis packages. Radon, radium and uranium are the most common naturally occurring radioactive elements in the environment. These radionuclides are soluble in water and they can be drawn into private well water.
Unlike community water systems, private wells are not regulated or routinely inspected for radionuclides. According to the U.S. Environmental protection Agency (EPA), approximately 15 percent of Americans use private wells as their main source of drinking water. To ensure their water supply is safe, owners of a private well should have their drinking water tested regularly for radionuclides.
“It is very important for anyone who uses well water as their main source of drinking water to have their water tested regularly for contaminants,” said Joseph Frasca, Senior Vice President of Marketing at EMSL Analytical, Inc. “Consuming water with higher than acceptable levels of radionuclides can lead to serious health problems. At EMSL, we offer a range of testing options to help accommodate our client’s needs.”
EMSL’s Radiochemistry Laboratory offers five testing plans for radionuclides analysis in drinking water. The options include Plan A (Gross Alpha/Beta), Plan B (Radium-228 and Radium-226), Plan C (Total Uranium), Plan D (Gamma) or testing all of the radionuclides together into one plan.
