Title EMSL Carle Place, NY Lab Receives NYSDOH ELAP Certification for Legionella Testing
Introduction EMSL's New York Labs are earning their final certifications to analyze Legionella under NYSDOH ELAP.

Carle Place, NY, December 21, 2016

After earning an interim certification earlier in September, EMSL Analytical, Inc. is pleased to announce that its Carle Place, New York laboratory has been granted a final certification for Legionella analysis of both potable and non-potable water by the New York State Department of Health Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (NYSDOH ELAP).

The NYSDOH ELAP now requires laboratories providing Legionella testing in New York State to pass this certification program. EMSL’s Carle Place provides Legionella analysis in potable water using ISO 11731 and ISO 11731-2 testing methods. The laboratory also offers Legionella testing in non-potable water using method ISO 11731.

“With the addition of Carle Place, all of EMSL’s New York labs and our corporate lab in Cinnaminson, NJ are now NYSDOH ELAP certified for Legionella analysis,” said Dr. Christopher Goulah, Legionella Technical Manager at EMSL Analytical, Inc. “EMSL is continuously working to maintain the most up-to-date accreditations within the industry.”

Collectively, EMSL is the leading Legionella testing laboratory with 16 CDC ELITE certified locations and is fully-equipped to handle large projects following outbreaks.

Along with Legionella culture testing, EMSL also provides polymerase chain reaction (PCR), sequence-based typing and whole genome sequencing for Legionella outbreak source identification.
