Professionals involved with indoor air quality (IAQ) issues are invited to take part in EMSL Analytical, Inc.’s FREE Mold, IAQ and Microbial Sampling Workshop on Thursday, September 21st in Greensboro, North Carolina. This half-day workshop will begin with registration at 8:00 AM followed by training from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the Greensboro Marriott Downtown located at 304 North Greene Street.

Many indoor air quality concerns related to mold and moisture can have an impact on people’s health. This workshop will benefit environmental consultants, home inspectors, general contractors, cleaning and maintenance professionals, restoration professionals, property managers, facility managers, industrial hygienists and building owners. Topics being covered during this free workshop include an introduction to fungal ecology, sampling for mold, report interpretation and uncertainty, general bacteria sampling, Legionella sampling and analysis, ERMI mold testing, indoor allergen sampling and IAQ investigation equipment.

Dr. Alan Goldstein, EMSL Raleigh’s Laboratory Director and National Microbiology QA Specialist, will be instructing this course. He conducts a wide range of microbiological testing including environmental, food, water quality, Legionella and bioburden testing of manufactured goods. Dr. Goldstein has over 25 years' experience as a microbiologist and teacher with peer-reviewed research articles in Science, EMBO Journal, Mycological Research, Genetics, Genes & Development, Mycologia, Molecular Biology of the Cell and Years. He earned his M.S. at UC Berkeley and Ph.D. at Dartmouth Medical School.
