EMSL Analytical, Inc. is hosting a free Assessing the Built Environment for Water Damage & Fungal Growth Workshop on Thursday, December 8th in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Registration will begin at 8:00 AM followed by training from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

This free workshop will be presented by Enviro Team North America’s Patrick O’Donnell, CIEC & Jason Popovic, CIE. The workshop will be broken up into 3 sessions: Water Intrusion, Water Vapor, and Report Writing Based on ASTM Recommended Report Preparation. Each session will take an in depth look at its named topic.

Session 1: Water Intrusion, will begin with an introduction to the IICRC S 500 Reference Guide; shortly after, moving into Water Microbiology and health concerns with exposure to contaminants. This session will also include information on how water affects various building products and ASTM Standards.

Session 2: Water Vapor, will discuss water vapor transmission, source identification & water vapor pathways, as well as ASHRAE, ASTM & US Army Corp of Engineers Standards.

Session 3: Report Writing Based on ASTM Recommended Report Preparation, will provide attendees with information regarding, the organization of a report, mandatory information, methods, inspection results, observations & limitations, presentation, and summary and references.

“Having knowledge on how water damage can occur is just as important as knowing how to fix it,” said Joseph Frasca, Senior Vice President of Marketing at EMSL Analytical, Inc. “ This workshop will give those in attendance knowledge on how water affects buildings which can help prevent and recognize water damage in a built environment.”

The free Assessing the Built Environment for Water Damage & Fungal Growth Workshop will be hosted at the Courtyard Fort Lauderdale North/Cypress Creek located at 2440 West Cypress Creek Road, Fort Lauderdale, FL.
