Title EMSL Analytical, Inc. Reaches 20 CDC ELITE Legionella Testing Laboratories in North America
Introduction EMSL Analytical, Inc. takes the lead in the Legionella testing market with 20 CDC ELITE proficient Legionella laboratories within its network.

Cinnaminson,  NJ, December 8th, 2017

EMSL Analytical, Inc. is pleased to announce that it now has 20 CDC ELITE proficient Legionella laboratories within its network, which spans across the United States and Canada. EMSL takes the lead in the Legionella testing market. In addition, EMSL has three NYELAP proficient testing laboratories in the state of New York. This program supersedes the CDC certification in New York.

“With the recent passage of ASHRAE 188 for preventing legionellosis in building water systems, along with the outbreaks in cities like New York, there has been an increase in demand for regional Legionella testing locations across the country,” said Christopher Goulah, Ph.D., Legionella Technical Manager at EMSL Analytical, Inc. “The importance of having a Legionella Water Safety Plan and validating that strategy by conducting Legionella testing continues to be emphasized. To help with testing demands, EMSL is continuously working to increase the number of CDC ELITE certified locations within our network of laboratories. With 20 CDC ELITE proficient laboratories to date, we are equipped to provide Legionella testing services no matter how big or small the project.”

EMSL also performs quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction (qPCR) testing for Legionella at our corporate headquarters in Cinnaminson, New Jersey. We are the only commercial testing laboratory in the country that offers qPCR testing for L. pneumophila, L. pneumophila serotype 1 and Legionella spp. in one convenient test. We can also perform Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) for outbreak source investigations involving all species and serotypes of Legionella.
