Title Asthma Awareness Month, World Asthma Day 2018 and Identifying Asthma Triggers
Introduction EMSL Analytical offers indoor environmental testing services to identify asthma triggers, allergens and respiratory irritants to help people manage their asthma.

Cinnaminson, NJ, May 1st, 2018

Asthma is a chronic lung disease that affects over 24 million people living in the United States, including more than 6 million children according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). It causes 60% of people living with the disease to limit their physical activity or miss days at school and work. Asthma is also expensive, costing the United States approximately $56 billion each year.

The month of May is recognized as Asthma Awareness Month and May 2nd is World Asthma Day. People with asthma and organizations, such as the CDC and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), that are dedicated to asthma control and education, join together to increase awareness about the lung disease to improve the lives of those with the condition.

“Educating asthmatics, their families, teachers and employers is important because an attack can happen when someone with the condition is exposed to an asthma trigger,” said Jason Dobranic, Ph.D., Vice President of Microbiology and Life Sciences at EMSL Analytical, Inc. “These asthma triggers can be very different from one person to another. Some of the more common ones include exposure to tobacco smoke, dust mites, outdoor air pollution, chemical irritants, cockroach allergen, cats and dogs, mold, nitrogen dioxide, and smoke from burning wood or grass. Fortunately, there are indoor environmental tests available to identify many of these asthma triggers to help people manage their condition in their home, school or work environment.”

One of the leading environmental asthma trigger, allergen and respiratory irritant testing providers is EMSL Analytical, Inc. With laboratories across the United States and Canada, they offer comprehensive air and indoor environmental quality (IEQ) testing services, sampling supplies and even easy-to-use test kits. EMSL also recently sponsored an educational video about Asthma Awareness Month and World Asthma Day 2018 that can be seen at: https://youtu.be/iHZMyncEKXE.
