Title EMSL Corporate Headquarters Receives Updated State of North Carolina Drinking Water Certification
Introduction EMSL’s corporate headquarters has added radiological analysis parameters to its North Carolina drinking water certification.

Cinnaminson, NJ,  July 11th , 2019

EMSL’s corporate headquarters has added radiological analysis parameters to its North Carolina drinking water certification. Naturally occurring uranium is a very common radioactive element in the ground that lead to increased levels of gross alpha, uranium, radon and radium in your water. These radionuclides can contaminate private well water and create potential health concerns for the occupants of the houses.

Unlike community water systems, private wells are not regulated or routinely inspected for radionuclides. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), approximately 15 percent of Americans use private wells as their main source of drinking water. To ensure their water supply is safe, owners of a private well should have their drinking water tested regularly for radionuclides.

“It is very important for anyone who uses well water as their main source of drinking water to have their water tested regularly for contaminants,” said Joseph Frasca, Senior Vice President of Marketing at EMSL Analytical, Inc. “Consuming water with higher than acceptable levels of radionuclides can lead to serious health problems. At EMSL, we offer a range of testing options to help accommodate our client’s needs especially in areas on high alert.”

EMSL offers two radionuclide packages to help assess your water:

Plan A: Gross Alpha, Gross Beta, Uranium and Radon
Plan B: Gross Alpha, Gross Beta, Uranium, Radon, Radium 226 and Radium 228
