Cinnaminson, NJ, June 24th, 2020
EMSL Analytical, Inc. is proud to announce that its Cinnaminson, New Jersey laboratory has added four new scopes of accreditation to its Louisiana Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (LELAP) certificate.
EMSL Cinnaminson can now analyze the following four tests in a non-potable matrix: Radium-226 by EPA 903.0 Method, Radon by SM 7500-Rn B Method, Gross-Alpha by EPA 900.0 (GPC) Method, and Gross-Beta by EPA 900.0 (GPC) Method.
When dissolved in water, radionuclides are known to be colorless, odorless and tasteless. As a result, they normally cannot be identified by our senses. The best way to identify radionuclides is through laboratory testing.
“While groundwater isn’t for human consumption, it’s important to test for naturally occurring radionuclides that can potentially pose health risks in drinking water from wells,” said Joe Frasca, Senior Vice President, Marketing at EMSL Analytical, Inc. “EMSL’s corporate headquarters can test for radionuclides in samples from a number of states including the new accreditation for Louisiana. At EMSL, we are always working to add new services that can better serve our clients.”
EMSL Analytical, Inc.’s scientists are experienced in radiological testing and provide a wide range of analytical options. The EPA 903.0 Method measures the total soluble of alpha emitting radioisotopes of radium. The Method 900.0 is used to screen water samples for alpha and/or beta particles to help determine if further analysis is needed. The method utilizes an alpha/beta counter to measure the activity level of the solid material left after the water is evaporated from the subsample. Analysis is based upon measuring the rate of decay of the particles to determine the activity of the sample.
