The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), in conjunction with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration National Weather Service (NWS), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), U.S. Forest Service, and U.S. Department of State, have announced that May 3^rd through the 7^th is Air Quality Awareness Week (AQAW).

The goal of AQAW is to promote events that increase air quality awareness and encourage people to check the Air Quality Index (AQI), daily. This year’s theme is, “Healthy Air – Important for Everyone!” The agencies that are sponsoring the event will focus on the following daily topics this week:
 

• Monday - Wildfires & Smoke
• Tuesday - Asthma & Your Health
• Wednesday – Citizen Science & Sensors
• Thursday – Environmental Justice Communities & Air Quality
• Friday – Air Quality Around the World
