Cinnaminson, New Jersey, May 6, 2024 Air Quality Awareness Week (AQAW) is a time for government agencies to share information with the public about efforts to protect and improve air quality. This year, it takes place from May 6^th through the 10^th. The annual event has been recognized in the United States since 2007 and the theme for 2024 is Knowing Your Air. The event is supported by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and their partners. These include the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, U.S. Forest Service, U.S. National Park Service, U.S. Department of Energy and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, as well as state, local and tribal agencies. Specific topics for AQAW 2024 include: Monday – Wildland Fires and Smoke Tuesday – Asthma and Your Health Wednesday – Air Quality and Climate Thursday – Air Quality and Environmental Justice Friday – Air, Animals and Plants “Two of these topics get covered most years during AQAW, wildfires and smoke, and asthma and health,” said Joe Frasca, Senior Vice President of Marketing at EMSL Analytical, Inc. “Wildfire smoke exposure has become a major issue as wildfire season now begins earlier in the year and lasts longer in many areas.
