EMSL Analytical, Inc. is proud to announce their food division is now able to test for artificial sweeteners in water samples. Artificial sweeteners are used extensively in the making and production of food products and beverages. Sweeteners are not metabolized or altered by most biological processes, including the human digestive system. Artificial sweeteners are eliminated from the body typically in bodily waste. Wastewater treatment facilities, which will treat wastewater, are ineffective in removing or degrading sweeteners. Based on the stability and high aqueous solubility, sweeteners are a good tracer for wastewater.
“We at EMSL are happy to announce the introduction of artificial sweeteners in water analysis” said Joseph Frasca, Vice President of Marketing at EMSL Analytical, Inc. “A trip down one aisle of the grocery store can show someone how many items now offer sugar alternatives. As an industry leader, we understand it is extremely important to be able to identify and quantify water for Acesulfame K, Sucralose, Saccharin, and Aspartame”.
In addition to artificial sweeteners testing, EMSL’s Food Division caters to the analytical testing needs of the Food and Beverage Industries. Microbiology, Chemistry to include Nutritional Labeling, and Specialty Analysis testing services highlight our areas of expertise.
