Title Baby Walkers Recalled Due to the Presence of Lead and Other Hazards
Introduction EMSL Analytical offers material and consumer product testing services for lead and other regulated substances to safeguard the public, and to help companies avoid costly product recalls.

Cinnaminson, New Jersey, August 1, 2025

Last month, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall of about 1,500 baby walkers because they violate a federal safety standard and their brake pads contain levels of lead that exceed the federal lead content ban. The lead is prohibited in children’s products by the Federal Hazardous Substances Act.

The product was manufactured in China, and sold to consumers in the United States via a major online retailer from August 2024 through December 2024. Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the recalled baby walkers.

According to the recall notice:

Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.

Children are indeed at heightened risk of health issues due to lead exposure because their small bodies are developing so rapidly. When a child is exposed to enough lead for a protracted period of time, permanent damage to the central nervous system can occur. This could result in learning disorders, developmental defects, and other long-term health problems.

“There are strict regulations concerning lead and other hazardous substances in children’s products that are sold in the United States and many other countries,” said Joe Frasca, Senior Vice President of Marketing at EMSL Analytical, Inc. “Companies that violate these rules are putting consumers at risk and face costly product recalls. At EMSL Analytical, we are dedicated to helping businesses protect consumers and avoid these types of recalls. Our material and product testing experts work out of laboratories located across North America where we offer testing resources for lead, cadmium, phthalates, and other regulated substances. We also test for microbial contaminants and a wide range of other potential health and safety issues.”
