Last month, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall of imported bicycles made for young children because they violate the federal lead content ban. The brand of 14- and 18-inch bicycles are pink with brown seat covers, brown handlebars, brown pedals, and brown baskets.

According to the recall notice:

Multiple components of the children’s bicycles contain levels of lead that exceed the federal lead content ban, posing a lead poisoning hazard to children. In addition, the black paint on the bicycle pumps contains lead that exceeds the federal lead paint ban. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health issues.

The bicycles were manufactured in China, and sold to consumers in the United States via a major retailer’s online platform from August 2024 through December 2024. Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the bikes and to contact the manufacturer for a full refund with proof of the bicycle’s destruction.
