Title EPA Reaches Settlements with Three Connecticut Real Estate and Construction Companies over Federal Paint Laws
Introduction EMSL Analytical offers laboratory testing services, sampling supplies, test kits, and personal protective equipment to identify and mitigate environmental exposure risks to lead and other hazardous substances to help companies comply with health and safety regulations.

Meriden, Connecticut, September 24, 2025

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has reached settlements with three firms in Connecticut for violations of federal lead paint safety regulations. These measures are part of the EPA’s continued efforts to reduce lead exposure, particularly in housing built before 1978.

Lead-based paint poses serious health risks, especially to children. When disturbed during renovations, it can create toxic lead dust that is easily inhaled or ingested. The EPA routinely inspects renovation companies, landlords, property managers, and real estate firms to ensure compliance with its Lead Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Rule.

The recent settlements include penalties totaling over $110,000 and require the firms to adhere to federal lead safety regulations moving forward.

“Companies performing renovations on homes built before 1978 must comply with the EPA’s RRP Rule to help prevent lead exposure,” said Joe Frasca, Senior Vice President of Marketing at EMSL Analytical, Inc. “These settlements reinforce the importance of following established safety protocols and maintaining regulatory compliance.”
