The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has announced its preliminary list of the top 10 most frequently cited workplace safety and health violations for fiscal year 2025. Respiratory protection remains a major concern, ranking fifth overall, slipping one spot from last year’s fourth-place position.
Across many industries, employees face the danger of airborne hazards that can cause cancer, respiratory impairment, asthma, allergies, and other serious health conditions. In severe cases, exposure may even be fatal.
“Respiratory protection continues to be one of the most cited OSHA standards,” said Jody Thomason, Vice President of Products/Corporate Purchasing at EMSL Analytical, Inc. “The Respiratory Protection Standard is not optional, it’s a legal requirement. It applies to all occupational airborne exposures to contaminated air where employees are exposed to a hazardous level of an airborne contaminant; required by the employer to wear respirators; or permitted to wear respirators. Compliance not only protects worker health but also prevents costly penalties.”
To support employers in meeting regulatory requirements, EMSL Analytical provides a wide range of solutions, including air testing services, monitoring instruments, respirators, filters, and fit testing supplies.
The company has also released an educational video highlighting OSHA’s 2025 Top 10 citations, with special attention to respiratory protection and other key worker safety concerns. The video is available here: https://youtu.be/30DzfMMMTKo
