Listeria Testing Services

It was recently announced that the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has recalled grated cheese processed from a New Jersey facility due to tests returning positive for Listeria monocytogenes. The recall covers about 11,530 units of Pecorino Romano cheese distributed nationwide.

Listeria monocytogenes (L. monocytogenes) is a bacteria associated with foods like raw milk, supposedly pasteurized fluid milk, cheeses (particularly soft-ripened varieties), ice cream, raw vegetables, fermented raw-meat sausages, raw and cooked poultry, raw meats (all types), and raw and smoked fish. L. monocytogenes is often transmitted during the production of these food products.
