The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced the recall of three imported children’s products from a brand specializing in youth educational items due to potential exposure to lead, phthalates, or both.

The recall affects more than 33,000 units, including:

• Flashcard talking toys that violate federal lead content and phthalate bans.
• Fingerpainting kits that fail to meet federal safety standards and exceed phthalate limits.
• Handwriting practice kits containing lead levels above allowable federal thresholds.

All recalled items were manufactured in China for distribution by a U.S. importer.

Lead and certain phthalates are toxic if ingested by young children and can cause serious health effects. Lead exposure is associated with developmental delays, neurological damage, and learning disabilities, while some phthalates are widely suspected of acting as endocrine disruptors.
