Effects of a Fuel Additive on Microbial Activity in Diesel Fuel
A company had developed a fuel additive and needed to show that their additive would not increase microbial growth in diesel fuel. Microbial growth can cause corrosion, clogged filters, operational loss and increase sedimentation. The additive was not a biocide but rather developed to improve performance. EMSL was able to perform ASTM E1259, using microcosms of diesel fuel with the additive and show that the additive had no positive effect on microbial populations in the fuel.
