Project Experience: Erionite

A client was concerned that a potential fibrous carcinogen, Erionite, was present in the asphalt road aggregate.  Through the use of our electron microscopy facilities, EMSL was able to determine that a few elongated particles suspected of being Erionite were present in the sample. These suspected fibers were compared against the chemical composition of other mineral standards to further substantiate the identification.
