An existing EMSL client contact us to test their antimicrobial product for a new market they were hoping to break into. The product had not previously been testing in the food industry and the client was hoping they could apply their technology to help clean eggs before reaching consumers. Salmonella was the bacterium of concern due to the prominence in the media. EMSL was able to inoculate eggs with Salmonella, wash them with the antimicrobial, then test them afterwards to show that the offending bacteria were killed.
