Defacement of paint and coating films by algal growth is a common phenomenon under certain conditions. This test method attempts to provide a means to comparatively evaluate different coating formulations for their relative performance under a given set of conditions, such as lighting, temperature, and humidity.

At EMSL, we simulate the required testing conditions to evaluate resistance of films, coatings, or other materials to evaluate the resistance to algal detachment.
